The Story of Rama & Sinta
Based on the ancient Hindu epic Ramayana as adapted into the Javanese Kakawin Ramayana, the ballet is traditionally performed in four distinct episodes.
The Lost of Dewi Shinta
Prince Rama wins a archery competition to marry Princess Sinta. Their happiness is shattered when the demon king Rahwana kidnaps Sinta and takes her to Alengka Kingdom.
Hanoman the Messenger
Rama allies with the monkey army. Hanoman, the white monkey warrior, infiltrates Alengka and sets the kingdom ablaze with his fiery tail.
The Death of Kumbakarna
A fierce battle ensues. Kumbakarna, Rahwana's giant brother, fights with honor despite knowing the cause is unjust — a powerful scene of loyalty and sacrifice.
The Holy Fire of Dewi Shinta
Rama doubts Sinta's purity. She proves her innocence by walking through fire — and survives. The epic concludes with their emotional reunion.
